Established in 2001, the .NAME top-level extension is the single TLD intended for personal websites only. These domain names can include personal or fictitious names, nicknames and/or other designations people are famous by. At the beginning, just third-level registrations were permitted, so if you wished to register john.doe.name, you would have to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was liberalized and second-level registrations were also allowed. Already acquired third-level domains remained active.

You will be able to update the WHOIS contact information, to park your domain, to set up Custom DNS records, etc. You can also transfer an already registered domain to our firm if you get its EPP transfer authorization code from the present domain provider and we will renew it when the transfer has been done. There are no special requirements on who can grab a .NAME domain name, but in order to keep the concept behind its establishment alive, the dot NAME Registry may check who the owner is and if there is no relation between the owner and the actual domain, the registration might be challenged.
